SRDC has focused on the most deprived and vulnerable population access to support and facilities and support to the education and develop entrepreneurship to uplift socio-economic conditions by reducing the risk of deterioration of livelihood status of the people. SRDC has considered the current problem of the country. Some core areas of priorities are;

1. Support in preparing development plans, policies and programs and their implementation in agricultural development, tourism promotion, industrial development, forestry, infrastructure development, preservation of natural heritage, culture, and related areas.
2. Training and capacity building, Entrepreneurship development, 
3. Environment, climate change and natural resources management
4. Policy research and development studies

Today, Climate change has become a global issue and its mitigation & adaptation is a major developmental challenge to the world. In this context, it is also one of most important challenge in Nepal although the contribution of Nepal in carbon emission is very less. The impact of climate change is very high in Nepal. So, all the development interventions need to strategically focus on addressing the climate change risks and vulnerabilities and building resilience of the system.
